New technologies to improve process efficiency in the aeronautical industry
PROJECT SUMMARY
BEST AERO FACTORY is committed to developing new technologies that can subsequently be applied to the manufacture of more efficient and safer aircraft. This is achieved by reducing costs and production times. Aircraft design has evolved significantly in recent years, incorporating new materials but also optimizing quality control techniques and manufacturing processes. The continuous improvement and adaptation of control techniques, as well as their integration into automated processes, is essential to increasing the robustness of structural element manufacturing and reducing costs and manufacturing times for non-conforming components.
While the global, national, and regional industries are aware of the need to implement 4.0 technology in their production processes to maintain and strengthen their competitiveness, the reality is that there are still no solid solutions on the market specifically for the aeronautical sector that address many of the challenges posed by the transformation of conventional factories to the smart factory concept. BEST AERO FACTORY aims to develop new technologies that will allow for future improvements in certain production processes that will have a significant impact on the Andalusian aeronautical sector.
Finally, the technologies designed and developed at BEST AERO FACTORY will improve the competitiveness of Andalusian industries in the future, with much lower production costs and energy costs than their counterparts in emerging countries and higher levels of social commitment. Furthermore, they would have the potential to influence the evolution of an auxiliary and services industry into a comprehensive solutions industry.
The general objectives of the BEST AERO FACTORY project are:
- Design and develop new technologies that enable advancements in the digitalization and automation of the aeronautical industry in Andalusia based on 4.0 technologies.
- Advance the improvement of aeronautical process efficiency through the development of new advanced technologies with the aim of reducing production times and costs.
- Position Andalusian industry at the forefront of the Factory of the Future or Industry 4.0 movement by increasing the technological maturity of new enabling technologies to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the aeronautical sector in Andalusia.
- To disseminate technological developments to enhance national and international scientific standing and also to attract the attention of the aeronautical industry through demonstrations, so they can see the technological leap this project aims to achieve.
