
Dr. Fernando Lasagni

Chemical Engineer (M.Sc.) from the Comahue National University (Argentina) in 2003 and Ph.D in Materials Science from the Vienna University of Technology (Austria) in 2006. In last, he occupies a research position (2002-2007) for the development and characterization of metal matrix composite materials and light alloys in collaboration with LKR (Leichtmetallkomptenzzentrum Ranshofen), BMW and EADS-Ottobrunn (now within the AIRBUS group). Fritz-Grasenick Prize of the Austrian Society of Electron Microscopy in 2017 for his contribution in FIB tomography.
During 2008 he was involved in the development of porous materials for space applications at Ibérica del Espacio S.A. (Madrid, Spain). He was selected as Assistant Professor at the Seville University during the period 09/2008 – 11/2014, and currently acts as honorary professor. From September 2008 he is the head of the Materials & Processes dept. at CATEC with main areas of expertise in additive manufacturing, non-destructive inspection methods and mechanical/environmental testing. Lasagni owns a scientific record of more than 165 publications, 1 patent (transferred to industrial partner) and 4 intellectual property registers.
He was nominated by CDTI as Spanish representative/co-representative in the framework of the harmonization process of additive manufacturing technologies for the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2014 and 2017. He is editor of the Journal Progress in Additive Manufacturing (Springer).
