NDT: Infrared Thermography

Infrared thermography (IRT) is a contactless non-destructive method, capable of tracking both sub-surface and surface indications. The technique can be applied to a wide range of materials.

It also allows the inspection of large areas short inspection times, with the advantage of portability of equipment and accessories for in-situ inspections. IRT is characterized by its speed, versatility and easy use, offering interesting results for defect detection in composite materials, between others.

The increasing use of composites in aerospace industry is driving growth the possibilities of the technology over other traditional methods, sometimes either unsuitable or insufficient for either quality control or in-service testing.
